Robert J. Baron
Counsel to the Firm
Robert J. Baron has joined Mahoney, Silverman & Cross, LLC as Counsel to the Firm. A graduate of Loras College and Northwestern University School of Law, Bob entered private practice to become a trial lawyer. In the initial years, he handled lawsuits of all types, including labor, contracts, will contests and personal injury cases. He eventually began representing large companies in defense of negligence and defective product claims and later focused his career concentrating on the defense of physicians, hospitals and nurses accused of medical malpractice. Bob was elected President of the Society of Trial Lawyers and inducted into the invitation-only Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the country’s pre-eminent organization of trial lawyers. He has argued cases successfully before the Appellate and Supreme Court of Illinois, as well as the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.
In 2000, Bob accepted an appointment as Associate Judge of the Circuit Court of Will County and served in that position for 13 years. Throughout that entire time he served as a Judge in the Family Division and as the Presiding Judge of the Family Division for the last 10 years.
Outside the law, Bob is a past President of both the Joliet Rotary and the Will County Bar Association. He is also a past member of the Board of Trustees of the University of St. Francis and is Chair of the Joliet Catholic Diocese Review Board.
Bob joins MSC to conduct trials in all areas, with emphasis in Family related divorce and custody disputes. A trained mediator and arbitrator, he also plans to develop his practice in all forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution.
