Prosecution by Kevin Yusman Prompts Closure of Unruly Tavern

BUDWEISER INN LICENSE REVOKED

Momence Mayor Jim Saindon, the city’s liquor commissioner, has revoked the liquor license of Scott Billadeau, owner of the controversial Budweiser Inn, Billadeau reported Thursday.

Billadeau had voluntarily shut down his bar March 4, ending more than 75 years of the tavern business at the site and the controversy that has surrounded it for several years now.

Though Billadeau already turned in the license to city officials, last week’s hearing of the city’s Liquor Control Commission was still held because he did not “admit the allegations” made in the five-count complaint by the city, said Joliet Attorney Kevin Yusman, representing Momence in the matter. Billadeau did not attend the hearing.

At the hearing, police remarked about the high number of calls they make regarding the tavern. One of the most recent resulted in Sgt. Tracy Nolte suffering a broken leg when he attempted to remove someone causing problems there.
