Mahoney, Silverman & Cross, LLC is pleased to announce that Marron A. Mahoney has joined the firm. Marron practices in the areas of corporate law, civil litigation, government law and appellate practice.
Prior to joining Mahoney, Silverman & Cross, Marron was the General Counsel and Chief of Staff for a State of Illinois agency and has extensive experience counselingclients on corporate issues including labor and employment, FOIA, ethics, and contracts. Previously, she was an associate in the appellate group for an international law firm in Chicago, where she worked on complex issues through all stages of the litigation process, from initial pleadings through appeals.
Marron was raised in Joliet, Illinois and graduated from Joliet Catholic Academy in 2000. She attended the University of Illinois in Champaign, where she majored in English, Economics, and Finance and graduated Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude with two B.A. degrees in 2004. She received her J.D., summa cum laude and Order of the Coif, from the University of Illinois in 2007. During law school, Marron served as an Articles Editor for the University of Illinois Law Review.
Marron has held three judicial clerkships during her legal career, both at the trial court and appellate court level. She clerked for the Honorable James F. Holderman, former Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois; the Honorable Sharon Prost, current Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C.; and the Honorable Laura Liu at the Illinois Appellate Court, First District.
Marron is a member of Will County and the Illinois State Bar Associations and served as the Chair of the ISBA Young Lawyers Division from 2017-2018. She also is a member of the Richard Linn Inn of Court in Chicago and the Illinois Appellate Lawyers Association. In addition, Marron serves on the North Lawndale College Prep Associate Board, where she is active in the high school’s mentoring program.
She also has been a moot court coach at the Loyola University Chicago Law School for the past several years and previously was an adjunct professor at the John Marshall Law School, teaching trial advocacy and unfair competition and trademark law. Marron was named a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2014 and received the Illinois State Bar Association’s Board of Governors Award in 2014.
